Brownies and Girl Guides
Brownies
Being a Rainbow, Brownie, Guide or member of the Senior Section opens up a world of opportunities that will last a lifetime. It provides a safe, girl-only space to explore the activities, issues and possibilities that are available to girls today.
Brownies are aged between 7 and 10 years old - their main aim is to have fun! Their meetings are full of challenges, games and activities, usually ones that the Brownies have suggested themselves. Brownies belong to a Pack and work in small groups called Sixes. This gives each girl a group of ready-made friends to take care of her. It also makes her feel that she belongs to something special.
The groups meet in Eggborough Methodist Chapel on Thursday nights 5.45pm to 7.15pm. You can join by contacting Moira Richmond (Guider in Charge) 01977 662690 or Brenda Mitchell (Assistant Guider) on 01977 661079.
Guides
Girl Guides are aged 10 to 14 years old. Girlguiding UK is the United Kingdom's largest voluntary organisation for girls and young women, with about 575,000 members including about 65,000 trained volunteer adult Leaders. 'Girlguiding UK' is an operating name of The Guide Association.
The range of activities is enormous and there's something, or more than something, to appeal to everyone, from outdoor challenges to learning new skills, international travel to getting involved in community action projects. And whether abseiling and canoeing or having your say on how we operate, one thing is certain. You'll make a lot of friends and have a lot of fun.
Guides meet in Kellington Village Hall on Monday evenings 7:30pm to 9:00pm. If you are interested in coming along to see our activities, please contact the District Commissioner - Mrs Jacqueline Burkill on 01977 662062.
WHITLEY GUIDES AND LEADERS WANTED
There are currently no Girl Guide meetings held in Whitley, however, if enough girls want to join and we can recruit 2 leaders or more, then the Guide Association will provide mentors to help during the first few months. Anyone interested should contact the District Commissioner - Mrs Jacqueline Burkill on 01977 662062 for more information.
